According to the OpenAI company, users have the freedom to ask any detailed question in natural language and will surely receive a customized result. It should be mentioned that in the first months, the ChatGPT Search feature will be available for experiments on categories like beauty, fashion, electronics, or even home goods.
It seems that OpenAI is planning to create new features and capabilities for the ChatGPT search engine and chatbot in order to remain an important part of the industry’s competition. Probably the direct competitor that is targeted now is Google, because online shopping represents one of the crucial businesses of Google.
The artificial intelligence company stated that the ChatGPT search engine is growing at a fast rate, and users have made more than a billion searches in the ChatGPT chatbot.
Even more so, the ChatGPT search results are not influenced by ads, and the shopping recommendations are made based on different factors such as pricing, reviews, and also on product descriptions. It seems that currently, the artificial intelligence company will not receive a payoff from the user’s purchases made through the ChatGPT search engine.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has declared multiple times that he is totally against introducing ads in ChatGPT, but he changed his perspective in a recent interview, where he stated that an advertising feature is an interesting opportunity. He also stated that OpenAI is not planning to sell priority ad placement but is aiming to charge a fee for those purchases made using ChatGPT search.
However, the OpenAI company is planning to introduce a memory feature for ChatGPT Pro and users soon. This means that the OpenAI chatbot will remember the user’s previous purchases to make other product recommendations. It’s important to note that the memory feature will not be available for ChatGPT users who are located in the UK, the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, or Liechtenstein.
