It should be mentioned that these three new OpenAI models have the power to process up to one million tokens of content such as images, text, and even videos from a user’s prompt. It is a significant improvement compared with the popular GPT-4.o model that is able to process only 128,000 tokens of context.
“We trained GPT‑4.1 to reliably attend to information across the full 1 million context length. We’ve also trained it to be far more reliable than GPT‑4o at noticing relevant text, and ignoring distractors across long and short context lengths.”, the OpenAI company stated in their official announcement.
The biggest and most powerful AI model launched by OpenAI costs $2 for a million input tokens and $8 per million output tokens, while the Mini version costs only $0.4 for a million input tokens and $1.60 per million output tokens. The smallest AI model called GPT-4.1 Nano is even cheaper than the first two models and costs only $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.40 per million output tokens. So, as some of you might be interested, the GPT-4.1 AI model has a price that is 26% cheaper than the previous GPT-4.0 model, because the price has become a popular benchmark after the recent release of DeepSeek’s AI models.
Compared with the previous OpenAI artificial intelligence models, these three recently launched models are indeed more powerful and offer much more capabilities. But, we don’t yet have a full comparison list of all the new AI models released by other companies in order to see how they perform compared to the new GPT-4.1.
