But what exactly are semiconductors, and why are they important?
Semiconductors represent the building blocks for microchips, which power different devices such as laptops, phones, and even advanced servers used for bigger technologies. They are not only used for microchips and advanced technologies, but they also power factories or robots.
Let’s think about the technology sector; any industry you might already know has or depends on semiconductors. It should be mentioned that they represent a significant part of innovation, because without them, the most well-known advanced technologies cannot operate without semiconductors.
Probably the most popular U.S. company, Apple, has recently increased its total investment commitment to about $600 billion, planned for the next four years. Tech leaders seem to be now closer to Donald Trump and agree with his ideas, and that’s why multiple U.S. companies have considered investing and moving their production to the U.S.
"Like, I would say (Apple CEO) Tim Cook would be in pretty good shape," Donald Trump stated during the dinner with major CEOs of some of the most well-known tech companies.
It’s important to mention that up until now, different companies such as TSMC, Samsung Electronics from South Korea, and even SK Hynix have recently announced their commitment to invest more in the chip manufacturing processes that are made directly in the U.S. territory.
