s we all probably know, since its last update OpenAI has been trying to get as close as possible to mimic a real-life person. And, with ChatGPT,
you will now feel like you are talking with a real person. However, this update is only available for the premium accounts. Sam Altman wrote in an X post that the update “will be completed over the course of the week” and “hope you think it was worth the wait”.
The new and updated version of ChatGPT will now be able to carry more fluid conversations and come with more voice options. Throughout this week the update will be made available, as it is not already available for EU countries, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or the U.K.
However, this capability is not entirely new to the public, as this May, ChatGPT introduced a voice resembling Scarlet Johansson's voice. The voice was named Sky and was similar to a scene from the movie “Her”, where Scarlet Johansson was the voice of a self-operating computer. This update followed, back then, many complaints and letters on behalf of the actress which claimed that OpenAI did not have permission to use Scarlet’s voice.
As a response, OpenAI took down Sky and claimed that they did not intend to create a voice that was similar to Scarlet's Johansson.
Yet, since then, users have been able to opt for different voices and talk with generative artificial intelligence. This latest update promises more quick responses and will have 5 new voices to choose from when interacting with machine learning.
“We’re rolling out voice and images in ChatGPT to Plus and Enterprise users over the next two weeks. Voice is coming on iOS and Android (opt-in in your settings) and images will be available on all platforms.” writing on their blog.
Even more so, with this update, the AI will be able to see if it is interrupted and stop talking resembling a real-life conversation. The new voices are Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale, making in total 9 voices which you can choose from. Getting closer to the number of voices Google’s Gemini has.

Another new feature that comes with the latest update of the AI system will be the possibility of interpreting simultaneously both audio and visual information. During the demonstration, ChatGPT members showcased that you can use ChatGPT to help you with math questions that are in front of you on paper. And, at the same time, it can code on the computer screen on its own.
So, with the latest version of GPT-4o, you will be understood even if you have a thick accent and will be able to have smoother conversations. And, GPT-4o is also said to be able to offer better customization options.
