Google I/O 2025: Here Are the Most Important Announcements

Here are the top updates and launches from Google I/O 2025, including AI updates and more interesting new features.

he Google I/O 2025 event is finished now, so it’s time to talk about the most important updates that were announced during the two days of the Google event.

We must admit that some of the Google announcements were somehow expected, because they made some minor reveals about what is about to be launched, but some of these have impressed tech and Google fans.

AI mode for Google Searches - probably the most impressive thing that has been announced during the Google I/O event is the artificial intelligence Google search mode, which will allow users to have an independent tab that uses the Gemini AI chatbot when searching for a certain topic. This feature will be launched this week to all U.S. users.

VEO & Images updates - The Imagen 4 version was launched, which is promised to have a better performance in generating text, while users will be able to export the images generated with Imagen in multiple formats. Also, the Google VEO 3 gets a new update that will allow users to generate the video and the sound at the same time.

New AI Filmmaking App - Flow is the new filmmaking app developed by Google, which combines three AI apps, Veo, Images, and Gemini, in order to generate AI-generated videos with an 8-second maximum length.

New AI Ultra Plan for Google - a new subscription plan is already available for users and costs $250 per month. Even though it is a higher price compared to the previous subscriptions, users with the AI Ultra will benefit from higher usage limits in Google apps such as Gemini, Flow, NotebookLM, and others.

Gemini AI directly into Google Chrome - great news for Gemini Pro and Ultra subscribers, the AI assistant will be implemented directly into Google Chrome. Users will be able to click on the Gemini button, and the AI assistant will quickly summarize or clarify any search topic on a certain webpage. Even more so, Gemini AI will be able to navigate through web pages on the user's behalf.

Real-time Speech Translation in Google Meet - probably the most useful feature, Google Meet will now allow users who have a Google AI Pro and Ultra subscription plan to translate their conversation in real time. Only supporting English and Spanish for now, Google plans to expand this feature to more worldwide languages.

Smart Replies for Gmail - starting in June, Gmail users will have an AI reply option that will suggest the most appropriate email responses based on the previous inbox information and the recipient’s email tone. This feature will be available only in English directly in the iOS or Android Gmail apps, and also on the web.

AI Shopping with Google - a new impressive AI feature will be tested to improve the user’s shopping experience. According to Google, users will be able to upload photos of themselves in order to see if different clothing items will suit them. Probably this feature will have a real success due to the fact that online shopping is now a trend.

Google Stitch - available only in a testing phase, this represents the new AI tool that creates interfaces based on user descriptions, along with the chosen themes. Users can upload wireframes, screenshots, or sketches of the desired interface design. You can test it directly in the Google Labs.

Google Beam - previously named Project Starline, this 3D video chat booth will receive a significant update, and will be launched combined with a device from HP that will feature a large display along with about 6 cameras to create a 3D image of your chatting companion. We don’t know for sure when it will be officially launched, but companies such as Salesforce or Deloitte have already expressed their interest in adopting it.

These are only a few of all the announcements that were revealed at the Google I/O 2025 event. We are indeed excited about all these new updates and apps, which are for sure a big step forward in technology.
