all the participants with a new and fresh redesign of its operating system across all Apple devices.
Called Liquid Glass, this new and interesting interface was first announced at WWDC 2025 and represents a completely new vision compared with the previous operating systems that have been launched by Apple. As the name suggests, Liquid Glass's new design provides an interface that is at the same time shiny, reflective, and transparent, giving the entire screen a more minimalist and glassy look.
It should be noted that the color of the icons will be directly influenced by the surrounding environment, allowing them to adapt to both light and dark modes. The translucent and shiny redesign is not only created for the Home Screen, but it is also available for the Notifications screen, Lock Screen, Control Center, and also for app icons.
Interesting right?
The good news is that Liquid Glass will not only be available as iOS 16 is launched because this new Apple interface redesign is going to be the default pattern for all operating systems such as iPodOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and also for tvOS 26.
This new Apple interface design was directly inspired by the Vision Pro operating system because it features a series of transparent and reflective icons, in order to use it without disturbing other everyday tasks. It is indeed a unique redesign for all Apple devices, but we must wonder if this Liquid Glass design suggests that the iPhone maker is planning to launch AR glasses with a more minimalist operating system.
We must admit that the new operating system redesign has indeed an interesting interface, and is probably the most noticeable redesign since the introduction of iOS 7 when Apple decided to change the skeuomorphic design to a more flat and minimalistic approach.
Back when the skeuomorphism style was a trend, the idea of it was to have similar icons to real-world objects. Instead, the flat design approach tried to replicate real-world objects, but with a view toward more digital icons.

According to Apple’s Vice President of Design, Alan Dye, the newly launched Liquid Glass redesign represents the perfect interface that provides users with more clarity in the navigation experience. It is also able to react in real-time to user’s commands, to create the perfect user experience ever.
It has “optical qualities of glass and a fluidity that only Apple can achieve.”, Alan Dye stated at the Apple event in 2025.
Apple managed to launch a series of new and interesting improvements for its devices, but stay tuned to be the first to read them all!
