So, what is Area 51? Well, during the Cold War, the CIA director at that time, realized that the need for a private base where they could test new aircraft and weapon technology was needed, so they chose Area 51 for this mission. And only a few months after the place was created, they succeeded in creating a sonar airship that could fly above the Soviets’ radar and gather information.
Area 51 is a subject that feels like a fever dream. Throughout the years, there have been numerous news articles about Area 51 and what happens behind the scenes of the facility. And after the claims of Bob Lazar in 1989, conspiracy theories appeared, most of them focusing on the existence of alien life and advanced technology. Bob stated that he worked at Area 51 and that its mission there was to replicate unknown spaceship technology and integrate it into the one they were developing. Soon after this incident, his degree and diploma were erased from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the California Institute of Technology as if he had never attended.
So, what kind of technology can we find in Area 51? Were Bob’s claims true? Well, the theories and paranoia regarding Area 51 appeared since the opening of the facility.
Area 51 was established, more exactly, in 1955 as a top-secret training facility for the United States Air Force. The purpose behind Area 51 was to serve as a base where the government could test and develop experimental aircraft and weapons systems.
When people hear the words “top-secret”, it seems like a lightbulb goes on in their heads. Area 51 has been the subject of many developments in its history. Top-secret projects happened there that birthed the F-117 stealth fighter or the B-2 stealth bomber. And if you are not familiar with the subjects, the F-117 stealth fighter was a single-seat jet used in combat and to gather information. The aircraft was designed in 1983 and its looks are still very impressive, flying with a top speed of 1.100 km/h.
On the other hand, the B-2 stealth bomber is an American heavy strategy bomber, designed in 1997, featuring a low-observable stealth technology that can penetrate through anti-aircraft defense. So, it’s no wonder, people believed that even advanced technology was developed in the base, such as stealth technology or time travel.
And that livs us wonder how do Fact & Fiction mix when talking about the technology said to be housed in Area 51
Well, it is a known fact that technology is usually being developed and created in Area 51. But people tried to link this fact with elements that feel like fiction. Housing alien technology and alien life is such a clichéd conspiracy theory that, in the present feels a little far-fetched. However, some technologies were developed at Area 51, mainly aircraft technology, such as drones. If you hear about anything else going on there, you might want to take that information with a grain of salt. But, we find it hard to believe that time travel is also being developed there.
So, it is important to be able to separate fact from fiction. If you have a rich imagination, you can think and talk about hundreds of theories regarding Area 51 but never brand them as facts. We would also like to mention that the U.S. government never confirmed or denied the rumors surrounding the facility, the existence of the facility was only made public by the CIA. In this case, some people might find it easy to believe the different theories going around.
But over the years the question regarding whether or not we can find alien technology in Area 51 appeared on the internet.
So, in 2019, we witnessed one of the best uses of the internet in history. Many people decided that it is time to invade Area 51, under the brand “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us”. The objective of this mission was to show the world that Area 51 hosts aliens and alien technology. The event never happened, but it was a good slice of internet humor and how people can bond through an insane concept like this.
One of the main theories that needed to be proven right was that the U.S. government has captured alien technology and spacecraft. There never was credible evidence for this idea, but people needed to make sure of this by themselves. Alien technology being held in Area 51 always felt too stretchy. But it is one of the most entertaining conspiracy theories out there.
Technology is created in Area 51. We are sure of that and many of you probably are too. Alien technology? We find it hard to believe. But it is a fun conspiracy theory that keeps people going. And, it is crucial to approach claims of secret technology with an open mind and a healthy dose of research. Because of the secretive nature of Area 51, we can never be sure what is fact or what is fiction!
