Apple is going to name all the operating systems, such as iOS, macOS, iPadOS, and others, based on year.
If we believe this rumor, which has a higher chance of becoming true, the new Apple operating system line will be named iOS26, according to the same Bloomberg report. So, all the Apple operating systems will be named accordingly, such as iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, and so on.
You must wonder why the Apple company will not name all its operating systems with the 25 number, as it is the current year. It seems that the Apple operating system numbers will align with the year after the official release, similar to car companies, that name their car models according to the next year.
Even if it’s now just a simple rumor, tech enthusiasts already have high expectations from the next WWDC 2025 Apple event, also known as the Worldwide Developers Conference, which is held at Apple Park in California.
The next Apple event is set to take place on June 9th and will continue with Apple releases until June 13, 2025, which represents plenty of time for the company to announce all the new interesting features that are scheduled to be released. We don’t know for sure, but according to some sources, Apple will release during the WWDC 2025 event upgrades for existing devices, such as a new and improved version of MacStudio, and a new model for AirTag.
It should be mentioned that the AirTag 2 was initially planned to be released at the end of 2024, but due to unknown reasons, Apple decided to delay this release. The first Apple AirTag model was first announced in 2021, so, after 4 years we think that it’s time to see some new features.
