According to his Instagram video announcement, the iPad version of the Instagram social media app will automatically open directly into the Reels section, instead of the Feed section, which is a default setting for iPhone. He states that this Reels section is much more fitting for the iPad, as we can watch them more easily while reading the video comments at the same time.
He believes that this makes the whole Instagram experience so much better for iPad users, but we have to see what users think about this slight change. Users are already used to the Feed section, especially because they used the Instagram app only on their iPhones, but maybe this change is for the better.
It should be mentioned that the Instagram iPad version has almost all the features that users are used to; for example, the stories will also be displayed on top of the screen, but you will see the options on the left sidebar. On iPhones, these options were available at the bottom of the screen, but all these changes were made to make sure that Instagram looks and works best on iPad. So, the DMs, Explore, and Search options will be available on the left side of the screen.
Here comes the interesting change: the Feed on Instagram iPad app will offer three options for users. The first one, called “All”, will feature the recommended reels and posta from followed accounts. The “Friends” options will display the reels and posta from those accounts that follow you and you follow back, considered by Instagram as your friends. The third option, called “Latest”, will feature the reels and posts that are posted in chronological order. It’s important to know that you can rearrange these feeds to fit your needs and preferences best.
As announced, the Instagram iPad version will be available for those devices running on iOS 15.1 or later. We don’t know yet if Instagram will also release an iPad version of the Edits app so users can edit their videos more easily.
Stay tuned for more updates!
