Along with this, a new naming scheme is being adopted, changing the expected iOS 19 to iOS 26, as well as iPadOS 26, watchOS, macOS 26, and visionOS 26.
At WWDC, one of the most exciting Apple news is its redesigned user interface called Liquid Glass. This new visual style brings a sleek, modern aesthetic with shiny, reflective, and translucent elements, giving the software a glass-like appearance.
iPadOS is being updated to make the iPad feel more like a Mac. A new Preview Feature will offer a variety of tools, such as a markup with the Apple Pencil and AutoFill. Users will also be able to export images in different formats.
MacOS 26, called Tahoe, is also getting some updates. Along with the new liquid glass design, it will feature an Apple Intelligence-powered Shortcuts app to help automate tasks more easily.
Apple launches watchOS 26, the next nig update for Apple Watch, featuring a refreshed interface built on the new Liquid Glass design language. This update introduces a wrist-flick gesture for easier navigation, plus a smart new workout buddy powered by Apple Intelligence.
Apple TV is also getting a makeover with the same sleek Liquid Glass aesthetic. One of the key new features is the ability to quickly access a user profile. The device will allow profile options each time it wakes from sleep, making it quicker for each person in the household to jump back into their own content.
The AirPods lineup is set to gain two notable features: studio-quality audio recording and a camera remote function.
CarPlay is also getting a significant upgrade, with three major new features: support for widgets and live activities, tapback reactions for incoming messages, and the option to pin favorite conversations.
Even more so, a dedicated Games app has been developed, designed to unify the gaming experience across its devices. Acting as a central hub, the app allows users to launch games, track their achievements, and view leaderboards in one place.
The app also makes gaming more social, with a “Play Together” tab where users can see what their friends are playing, compare scores, and send game invites. A new “Challenges” feature offers a fun way to compete with friends through score-based competitions.
This year’s WWDC updates reflect Apple’s efforts to integrate new tech into every aspect of its ecosystem, from design to functionality.
