After more than one year of teasing these two new electric vehicles, Tesla finally launched them this Tuesday, calling them the “Standard” versions of the original electric vehicles.
The Tesla “Standard” Model 3 Sedan will start at the price of $36,990, while the new Model Y “Standard” will start at the price of $39,990. Compared to the original prices, even though for some Tesla potential customers it’s not a significant price difference, in fact, Tesla has taken into consideration all the customers' complaints and introduced more budget-friendly electric vehicles.
Let's compare with the ” Standard” version of the Tesla Model 3 Sedan with all the other options. We can see that between the Premium-All Wheel Drive and Standard model is a difference of about $10,000, which can be considered a significant price adjustment.
Same for the Tesla Model Y Standard, because it is now about $9,000 cheaper than the Premium All-Wheel Drive electric vehicle model.
It should be mentioned that even if these models are way cheaper, they still have similar features and capabilities, meaning that customers will still have the same Tesla driving experience with a cheaper EV model.
The biggest changes in Tesla’s new models are found inside rather than outside. Tesla cars are already known for their minimalist design, but these versions take it even further. There’s no second-row touchscreen, and both the steering wheel and side mirrors have to be adjusted manually. The cars don’t include FM/AM radio, and the sound system has only seven speakers instead of 15 and a subwoofer like the pricier versions. Even more so, only the front seats benefit from the heated option.

In terms of features, the Model 3 Standard is offering with a full battery charge about 321 miles of range, but it doesn’t have the same capabilities as the premium models, of course. It seems that the Standard Model doesn’t have the Tesla Autopilot system, which represents the basic advanced driver assistance system, but it comes with traffic-aware cruise control and Autosteer.
The Standard Tesla Model Y receives the same 321 range with a fully charged battery, but in a different SUV design, specific to Tesla Model Y EV models. It can be supercharged in 15 minutes up to 160 miles, which is a great feature to have when you don’t have a lot of time to recharge your car. So, while you are grocery shopping, you can charge your car at an impressive speed and go on with your day as usual.
