As there is still no timeline provided for the AI6 chip production, Musk has previously said that the next gen of A15 chips will be produced at the end of 2026, suggesting A16 would follow. Samsung currently makes Tesla’s A14 chips that are used to power its Full Self-Driving driver assistant system, while TSMC will create the A15 initially for Taiwan, and then it will expand to Arizona, as Musk said.
In October, Reuters reported that Samsung had purposefully postponed the deliveries of ASML chipmaking equipment for its Texas factory, as it had not yet won any major customers for the project.
While the timeline for the special event is given for the A16 chip production to be by the end of 2026, suggesting A16 would follow, reported Reuters.
More so, Lee Dong-ju, an analyst for SK Securities, says he expects production to start in 2027, 2028, yet Tesla also has a history of missing its targets.
Tesla’s A14 chips are what power the entire Full Self-Driving assistant system, while TSMC is slated to make the A15.
