What is the difference between the two and why is considered a downgrade?
AMOLED screen can create true blacks and have higher contrast, which means that the colors shown are more vibrant and a greater variety of nuances can be seen. IPS LCD panel has higher brightness and color accuracy, which means that the image will be paler than in the last foldable phone and the image quality would be reduced.
It is believed that the new foldable phone will be similar to its predecessor. The design is expected to be similar to the Z Flip 5, with slight changes in size but nothing that noticeable. The new Galaxy Z Flip 6 will come in two new color variations: mint and lavender. Another expectation the Samsung consumer usually has is that Samsung matches the processor of their new Flip phones to the one on Galaxy S phones. If that is the case this time too, then the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will operate on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. However, some smartphone rumors indicate that the expectation will not be met and the foldable phone would have two variations: one with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and another with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Other smartphone rumors state that the phone will be lighter, thinner, and its battery will last longer. A new and useful feature of the new Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the Interpreter Mode for language translation that can now be used on the cover too permitting you to see the text in one language and the other interlocutor will see the translation making conversation between languages easier.
However, we will not know anything for sure till Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10th in Paris, when the smartphone rumors about the display technology will be confirmed or infirmed. Only 5 days until we’ll see what the new foldable phone has to offer and the new features Samsung has in store for its users.
