Only in the U.S. territory, the new Instagram editing tool has been downloaded about 381,000 times in the first three days, compared to CapCut which has been downloaded only 3,400 at the time of debut.
It seems that the rapid acceptance of this new social media editing tool has been a benefit because various users have contributed with their honest reviews, increasing the app rank and boosting the number of Android and iOS downloads. So, the Instagram Edits app turned out to be on the first day of launch, the No.1 in the U.S. iPhone App Store downloads charts, maintaining its high rank also in the Top Overall apps and Top Apps. But, this episode didn’t last long, because, on the second day, Edits decreased to No.2 in all App Store charts and by Friday it was ranked No.3.
The iOS App Store ranking is made based on the number of downloads, along with the rate of new installs in the first days and even the week of the app’s launch. So, that’s why the Instagram edits app managed to surpass the ByteDance-owned video editing app.
Even though it seems that Edits has been capable of surpassing the CapCut video editor in the first week of its launch, CapCut still holds the record, with 1.22 billion worldwide downloads from both iOS and Android app stores, without the Chinese downloads.
Stay tuned to find out more about Instagram Edits and see if it represents a good alternative to ByteDance’s CapCut.
