welcomed a new Intel CEO in March, it now seems that other members of the Intel executive team are considering departure from the semiconductor company.
So in their recent announcement, the Intel company declared that after more than three decades of activity, the Intel product CEO, Michelle Holthaus, will leave, remaining only a strategic adviser for the giant semiconductor. During these three decades, Michelle had numerous roles within the company, such as interim co-chief executive and many others.
It’s important to note that the new Intel CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, is focused on intensifying the efforts to accelerate the company’s turnaround. In order to make this possible, the Intel CEO announced earlier this year that eventually the Intel executive leadership will be divided into pieces so that all the important chip groups can report directly to him. He also declared back then that he was determined to streamline Intel's operations by laying off some employees.
So, after just a couple of months, the news came quickly about the Intel layoffs, when the semiconductor company declared that it was shutting down its business in automotive architecture to support the restructuring plans. All the employees from the automotive departments were laid off.
Besides the departure of Michelle Holthaus, the Intel semiconductor company also announced that they are now focused on creating an advanced engineering group to build a custom and completely new silicon business, but only for outside customers. It seems that this new engineering group will be led by Srinivasan “Srini” Iyengar. He recently joined the company in July, coming from Cadence Design Systems.

Even more so, the data center group will have Kevork Kechichian as chief, while Jim Johnson will be the senior vice president and general manager for the client computing group.
When asked about these, Intel Semiconductor declined to comment.
