This Tuesday, Google hosted the annual I/O event, where a lot of new features were added to Google’s portfolio. Different products from artificial intelligence, a new search engine that will be more relevant, and even chat features and AI integrations for cloud users.
The annual I/O developer conference is usually held for the presentation of new hardware, yet as their new Pixel 8A was already announced, Google used this event to present its new plan of asserting dominance over the generative AI sector.
Some of its biggest announcements include Gemini Setup, a faster and more accurate Search photos engine, Gemini Workplace, new Gemini models, and a space where creativity will earn new names and definitions.
Gemini – AI Tool
Credits: gemini.google.comGemini is Google’s large language model used for their mobile devices, and it comes with new features. It is now called Gemini Nano with Multimodality. Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, personally announced at their latest I/O event that Gemini Nano will now have the ability to “turn any input into any output”. This means that generative artificial intelligence can now extract information from text, images, audio, video, websites, and even live camera footage from your phone, analyze it, deliver answers based on those, and even summarize those inputs. Think about going to the library and wondering what book you should read next. Well, Gemini Nano has got you. You just need to scan the shelves, and the camera will scan the titles, recognize them, and deliver answers based on those. It seems surreal, but it’s just Google’s innovative view.

Photo Recognition Engine
Credits: blog.googleWith this new Photo recognition feature, Google has outdone itself. The new “Ask Photos” feature will now be able to deliver more than just a photo when you are looking for a photo of your kid or pet. You can now require Ask Photos to deliver the photos with the best sunsets from the national parks you visited, and Gemini will look for all photos of sunsets that you have taken and see which are in national parks and deliver just those photos.
Or you can ask Photos to see which was your wedding theme and look through the photos and remind you which was the theme.
Gemini Workplace
Credits: blog.googleYour Google App Workplace (Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheet, and Slide) will now have a toggle button where Goggle Gemini AI will appear. Gemini will be there to answer questions, help you deliver better emails, and make a summary of your email threads. Even more so, Goggle Gemini will also be able to help students with their homework or provide summaries of the PTA meetings parents attend.
Creative Space
Credits: deepmind.googleCreativity will have a new definition with the new VideoFX provided by Google. VideoFX creates 1080p videos based on the prompts we input into the engine. Google has also improved its ImageFX, which is an image generator with higher resolution.
Search Engine Optimization
Google is one of the best and largest search engines in the industry. However, integrating AI into its search engine will make the experience even more flawless. We will now be able to get faster and better responses to our inquiries. Google will now be able to integrate a summary into our search and deliver answers to your questions. This summary will appear first in your search pool and be called Multi-Step Reasoning.
Security
Credits: deepmind.googleSecurity and safety remain one of the top priorities and Google will help us figure out whether or not we are being scammed. Will be able to detect our phone calls and see whether we are getting scammed, protecting us. Google will also be able to tell whether or not an image is made by AI with SynthID. So, we will be able to discover deep fakes, misinformation, and phishing.
