lon Musk’s SpaceX Starbase will be getting its official company town. Residents from a southern Texas area voted on Saturday to incorporate the area around
SpaceX Starbase as a city, naming it Starbase.
Even more so, according to the results, which were posted online by the Cameron County Elections Department, there were 212 votes in favour and only 6 votes against.
Even more so, on a post on social media on X, Elon Musk wrote that Starbase Texas “is now a real city”. It is also believed that most of the residents are believed to be SpaceX employees. On Saturday, it was also voted that the election of the three current and former employees from SpaceX – Bobby Peden, Jordan Buss, and Jenna Petrzelka – who worked to serve as Starbase’s mayor and two commissioners.
It is also worth mentioning that the Associated Press reports that SpaceX has not shared many specifics about why it wanted to integrate the area. SpaceX also said that the company is already managing the roads, utilities, and “the provisions of schooling and medical care,” looking into a shift in authority from the company to the new city government in order to close the nearby Boca Chica beach and state park launches.
Recently, Musk has also said that he would reduce his role with the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency to a “day or two” per week, as announced last year that he was moving SpaceX’s HQ from El Segundo, California, to a new city in Texas.
Musk also has reported recently that it “had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building” and that it had the “final straw” when the California bill that prohibits schools from disclosing students’ gender identity was passed.
