The update awaited by everybody will follow a recent US court ruling that required Apple to stop charging fees on purchases made outside of the App Store. This also comes as audiobooks directly within the iOS app, and allows users to see pricing. The update will be a nice improvement for users who previously needed to buy audiobooks on the web before they could access them within the app.
Spotify has also taken out audiobook purchases back in 2022 due to Apple’s strict rules around in-app purchases. Now, users have the ability to purchase an audiobook with only a few taps. More so, iPhone users previously needed to visit the web in order to purchase more listening hours, which were known as “top-ups”.
This update gives users the ability to make purchases directly within the app. Each top-up costs around $13, and it comes with 10 extra hours. Spotify has also stated, earlier this month, to allow iPhone users to purchase subscriptions outside the App Store as Apple approved an update that enables acces to price information and external payment links.
