Those results add up to 146 million Switch units that have been sold, also breaking a new record for software sales on a Nintendo platform that ended up with 1.3 billion units sold as of September 30th, 2024. Nintendo also mentioned that Switch Online subscriptions had a drop of about 34 million members.
Simultaneously, the number of users who are opting for the more expensive subscription that includes the Expansion Pack library of games is continually increasing. In the presentation, they mentioned, “More software has been played on Nintendo Switch than on any other Nintendo hardware.”.
Even more so, all major console manufacturers have encountered irregularities with backward compatibility. The Xbox Series X and the PS5 are however mostly backward compatible. But with the development of the Wii U came a change from discs to cartridges, yet the Switch does not.
The new Nintendo is still scheduled to be launched during this fiscal year, which lasts till March 2025, without interfering with Nintendo’s already existing connection that has over 100 million players.
