Also, Instagram made a similar post on its X account, where started a hashtag, #instagramdown in order to have more visibility on social media.
The last app that confirmed its issues was WhatsApp, which like the other Meta apps, chose to make the issues public on X (formerly Twitter), and assured all its users that even if WhatsApp is down now, services will come back to normal as soon as possible.
So, during this Meta global outage, Downdetector recorded some significant spikes for apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, and even Instagram which reflected the worldwide user impact. For example, the Instagram Downdetector page, recorded over 66,000 issue reports while on Facebook the Downdetector page recorded more than 83,000 issue reports.
Additionally to these worldwide outage reports, the Meta status page for its business services also recorded some disruptions. So, services such as Facebook Ads Manager and Workplace from Meta experienced various functioning issues. In addition to these, the APIs from Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram were marked as having “major disruptions”.
A few hours later, Meta apps started to recover easily as Meta announced on X “We’re 99% of the way there — just doing some last checks. We apologize to those who’ve been affected by the outage.”
“Andddd we’re back — sorry for the wait, and thanks for bearing with us,”, Instagram also stated on X (formerly Twitter).
Now, all Meta apps seem to work properly.
It should be mentioned that the reason behind this worldwide Meta down outage still remains unknown, but as the company stated, it came due to some technical issues. It remains to be seen if Meta will make public the real reason behind all these issues recorded.
