It should be noted that Facebook is not the first social media platform to implement measures against unoriginal content, as YouTube has recently clarified its policies.
So, it seems that YouTube will no longer allow access to monetization for those accounts that post repetitive videos or that continuously feature videos fully generated using artificial intelligence technology.
According to the YouTube statement, starting on July 15, YouTube is focused on supporting more accounts and content creators that provide authentic and high-quality content, rather than AI-generated content.
Indeed, artificial intelligence models are now so powerful that it becomes tempting not to use them when they can provide such high-quality outcomes, but it’s important to stay as authentic as possible and use our content to preserve creativity. However, some of the social media users have somehow taken advantage of the technological advancements and generated misleading videos that caused confusion and misinformation.
Even more so, the Meta group announced that it will not apply penalties to those Facebook accounts that are sharing unoriginal content, because the social media platform will analyze whether users react to a certain video, or are just joining a new trend.
Instead, Meta has made clear that it doesn’t support the behavior of pretending that a video is originally yours when it can be found on someone else’s account. It should be mentioned that those accounts that are doing these actions more than a couple of times will eventually lose access to the Facebook monetization program for a determined period of time, and will also experience a lower view rate on their future post.
Also, according to the company statement, Facebook is currently testing a new feature that will automatically add the link directly in the description of duplicate posts, to redirect the users to the original video.
Stay tuned for more updates!
