week, passengers in Waymo driverless cars were limited to only a few jams, limiting them to a few music stations that played lo-fi beats, smooth jazz, K-pop, and other genres that they may or may not care for.
So, for those who wanted to listen to something more specific, they had to use another app from Waymo’s parent company, Alphabet. For iPhone users who wanted to listen to something more specific, they also had to use another app from Waymo’s parent company, Alphabet.
Which, for IOS users, meant downloading the Google Assistant app and configuring it in order to connect to Spotify. At this point, you also had to ask Google Assistant through written commands to stream certain songs, artists, and even playlists on Waymo. Even if you get to this point, at which you might also be halfway to your destination and have listened to some lo-fi beats, the service might also not be working reliably.
However, as of this week, Waymo launched a Spotify integration that allows users to seamlessly link the music streaming and robotaxi-hailing services together. This made a lot of customers happy after waiting for their turn to stream their music.
With this new feature, the user experience in the driverless cars gets to the next level, offering a must-have option that needed to exist in the first place.
In order to set it up, you will need to first open the Waymo app and navigate to the “Music” section, where you will observe a new offering that gives you the ability to connect to Spotify. From there, you can also press a button and authorize Spotify in order to connect to Waymo, while also giving the robotaxi some access to your listening information.

Apple Music users will probably also be able to stream theri music and podcasts in Waymo as well. Waymo spokesperson Chris Bonelli also reported for TechCrunch that the company is looking to expand and explore new personalization options, yet they did not clarify when the company might add an Apple Music integration.
Even more so, your Spotify app can now control the music from the Waymo car, so you can simply select any song you want and blast it in the car speakers, exactly the same as you would be doing with Apple CarPlay or a Bluetooth speaker.
