In 2024, the Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff launched ’’Agentforce’’ a platform that helps other companies create and implement AI agents for their services, tasks, and other necessities. The agentic platform had a huge success and managed to get ’’on the world’s #1 digital labor platform’’, which proved that the implementation of AI agents will exponentially improve the Customer Relationship Management field.
During the summer, Benioff said that the tasks were divided, 50% of the work being done by AI agents and 50% by humans. From that moment, things took a turn, and the layoffs began.
The company’s CEO didn’t express any problem with the Salesforce layoffs and addressed in a statement ’’I keep looking around, talking to CEOs, asking, what AI are they using for these big layoffs? I think AI augments people, but I don’t know if it necessarily replaces them’’.
Salesforce joined other companies that adapted this strategy, like Microsoft and Nvidia, due to the efficiency and rapidity of using tech innovation that can operate a vast amount of client interactions. Plus, the Salesforce layoffs will no longer require large financial investments. According to Fortune, AI agents lowered costs by 17% from the beginning of 2025.
Microsoft’s Asha Sharma, who leads AI product strategy, affirmed that the evolution of AI agents might change the hierarchy of companies and how they will function.
Another founder who is implementing AI agents is Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, and his opinion aligns with Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, by emphasizing that AI agents will uplift the working class, not reduce it. Huang expressed in 2024 that he engaged with AI agents and that his company used them for network security, integrated circuit design, and software development.
