intelligence capabilities. It seems that Google now wants to compete with the OpenAI artificial intelligence company and integrate the Veo 2 to provide similar functionalities as OpenAI’s Sora video generation tool.
The industry’s competition is intensifying, as various AI companies release their own models to remain competitive. Same with Runway AI, which also recently released a new video generation tool for its users.
So, all the Gemini Advanced paid subscribers can already test and enjoy the Veo 2 functionalities directly from the drop-down menu in the Gemini chatbot. It should be mentioned that Google Veo 2 is capable of generating videos with an 8-second length at a 720p resolution and 16:9 ratio, with only a short description of a desired scene. All videos can be generated in different styles such as animated or more realistic and can be uploaded to social media apps such as YouTube or TikTok and others using the share button from Google Gemini.
Keep in mind that this AI tool offers the option to download all the generated videos as MP4 files, but with a SynthID watermark from Google. But, Google Veo 2 has a video generation limit per month, but we don’t know currently how many videos users can generate. As stated in the company's announcement, when users are approaching that video limit, the tool will automatically send a notification to let them know.
Even more so, Google has announced that the video generation tool will also be integrated with Whisk, which represents a Google Labs experimental feature for now that allows users to upload images as prompts in order to create new images with Gemini. Named Whisk Animate, this new feature allows users to transform the images generated and turn them into Veo 2-generated videos with an 8-second length.
Google Labs represents the platform specially created for early-stage AI products and can be accessed by those users who pay for a Google One Premium subscription of $20 per month.
It’s true that at first glance, the features of Google Veo 2 seem pretty basic compared with other artificial intelligence models. However, according to the Google DeepMind CEO, Demis Hassabis, the company is planning to blend together the Gemini AI model with the Veo video generation model in order to create a powerful artificial intelligence tool.
