As the chat app states, the advertisement algorithm will be organized according to each user’s country, so they will see personalized ads from different channels that they follow or even ads from other users.
But it’s important to mention that WhatsApp users will not receive personalized ads according to aspects such as groups, phone numbers, or messages that they send. They will only be in-depth and personalized if they have previously added their WhatsApp account to the Meta Account Center. This way, the chat app will gather the information collected from the Account preferences, to show different ads.
Who can display their ads in the WhatsApp Status section? Well, according to the WhatsApp statement, companies will be able to boost their channels with ads. These channels, which can be found under the WhatsApp broadcast in the Discovery Section, will have the option to require users to pay a certain subscription fee in order to access exclusive news and offers.
Currently, more than 1.5 billion people are using WhatsApp Status and WhatsApp Channels every day, to find out the latest news and interesting offers from their favorite companies and brands.
Up until now, this online messaging app has managed to generate earnings directly from the WhatsApp Business dedicated platform, and also from the click-to-Whatsapp advertisements. In the previous quarterly reports, the Meta Group declared the fact that the WhatsApp Business channels are growing from month to month with users that are joining new favorite channels.
“The new ads and promotion products] felt like the next natural evolution, now that both those businesses have scaled to help people discover businesses directly within WhatsApp. And that was what we were increasingly hearing from businesses that they wanted to do as well,”, the VP of product at WhatsApp chat app stated.
