to make sure that everyone knows that.
Apple users were noticing that Apple Wallet notified them that there was a promotion available for the movie, also promoting it at the same time. The notification mentioned a “save on 2+ tickets to F1 The Movie” by using a promotional code.
This notification was considered to be an affront to many recipients, as multiple publications mentioned it. Users are also linking it to the U2 debacle dating back in 2014 when it gifted the band’s new album to over 500 million iTunes accounts without a way to delete it, a promotional whoopsie that cost Apple more than $100 million.
Not long after the incident, a tool was released, letting people delete the album from their libraries. More recently, Apple sent unwanted push notifications to promote Carpool Karaoke, one of the company’s first Apple TV Plus hits.
Regardless of the film’s quality, Apple should have been more chill about it. Even more so, Reddit users started complaining about this ad, saying, “I did not pay over $1000 for an iPhone to get advertised at,”.

As it turns out, there is a new option called iOS 26’s beta build to disable “Offers & Promotions” from Apple Wallet that isn’t available in the current release. Instead of this, users who do not have the beta update will have to receive any prompt or add that Apple sends to them, as they are not capable of diable those notifications.
And this is not all, iOS 26 also comes with suggestions from Apple, offering them to push more marketing messages and promotions through the Wallet app in the future, a feature many iPhone users will not appreciate.
Apple customers are usually not the happiest when it comes to advertisements and marketing ads received on their phones without theri consent.
Also worth mentioning is how Apple has been promoting “F1” along with its distribution partner Warner Bros., which has included the launch of its trailer. The tech devices provider also kicked off its recent WWDC 2025 keynote this month with a preview of the film’s action, with Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, also participating in this.
