During the Polaris Program, Jared Isaacman backed two separate missions, conducted by SpaceX, to orbit. More so, while the most recent mission happened in September, Isaacman was one of the crew members who conducted the private spacewalk with the help of SpaceX’s suits.
He also came up with a proposal that he was willing to fund for launching a private mission that could have boosted the orbit of the Hubble Telescope.
In August he posted on X “If there’s a technical path to ensuring humanity’s survival — and Starship appears to be the closest we’ve come — it seems irresponsible not to pursue it”.
Isaacman could even help manage NASA’s budget better, reaching $25 billion and the 18,000-person workforce and the ongoing program it funds. As a result, some of the projects and initiatives have stormed over their budgets and some of the projects have been canceled. And, some projects such as the Artemis program, have been delayed.
“I am confused how we can fund billions per launch on a disposable mega-rocket, fund two lunar landers to prevent hurt feelings but we can’t keep New Horizons staff funded at present levels?”, Isaacman talked about the Artemis program.
Isaacman also talked about the possibility of China’s domestic spaceflight and that if they land humans on the moon before the US returns “it will be an immense wake-up call with real domestic and geopolitical ramifications.”, reported TechCrunch.
